Emuhaya Comes Alive as 2026 Vihiga County KSSSA Games Kick Off Amid Talent Hunt and Economic Boost

Emuhaya Constituency has become the center of sporting excitement after officially welcoming schools, athletes, officials, and supporters from across Vihiga County for the 2026 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) County Games.
The highly anticipated tournament has brought together hundreds of students competing in football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, netball, and other sporting disciplines. The event is expected to identify outstanding talents who will progress to regional championships and potentially represent the county at national competitions.
Speaking ahead of the games, Emuhaya Member of Parliament, Omboko Milemba, said the constituency was proud to host the county showcase and provide a platform for young athletes to demonstrate their abilities.
“We are honoured to host these games that bring together the best of our young sportsmen and women. Beyond competition, the games offer an opportunity to identify and nurture talent that can be developed to higher levels,” said Milemba.
Education and sports experts have consistently highlighted the role of school sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience, and physical fitness among learners. Competitions such as the KSSSA Games also create pathways for students to pursue careers in professional sports and athletics.
Milemba further encouraged local businesses and traders to take advantage of the economic opportunities created by the influx of visitors attending the tournament.
“The arrival of athletes, officials, and supporters presents a unique opportunity for traders, transport operators, food vendors, and hospitality providers to grow their businesses and boost local incomes,” he noted.
The legislator also called on participants to uphold discipline and embrace the spirit of fair competition throughout the tournament.
“As we enjoy the excitement of the games, let us maintain the highest standards of sportsmanship. May this tournament be remembered for fair play, discipline, and teamwork,” he added.
