A total of 7,284 students from disadvantaged households in Elgeyo Marakwet have received a major boost in their education after Governor Wisley Rotich distributed bursaries worth Ksh 73 million.

The funding will benefit learners enrolled in secondary schools, Vocational Training Centres (VTCs), Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, colleges, and universities across the county.

Speaking during the bursary issuance, Governor Rotich said the financial support is intended to reduce the economic challenges faced by vulnerable families and enable students to continue their studies without interruption.

“Through this bursary program, we are easing the financial burden that many families struggle with and ensuring that deserving students can pursue their education,” he said.

The governor further emphasized the importance of bursaries in promoting equal access to education, noting that the initiative helps bridge the gap for learners from less privileged backgrounds.

The bursary allocation marks one of the largest education support programs in the county, providing thousands of students with an opportunity to achieve their academic goals.
