Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has arrived in the United Kingdom to begin his highly anticipated diaspora tour, receiving a warm welcome from supporters and Kenyans living abroad upon landing at Heathrow Airport.

The Democracy for Citizens Party leader was received by a delegation of allies and supporters who gathered at the airport ahead of his arrival to usher him into the country.

Among those present to welcome him were John Methu and Dagoretti South parliamentary aspirant Fanya Mambo Kinuthia, who led a team tasked with coordinating preparations and conducting pre-arrival arrangements for the visit.

Dozens of Kenyans residing in the United Kingdom also turned up at the airport, waving Kenyan flags, singing patriotic songs, and cheering as Gachagua arrived in Britain.

In emotional scenes at the airport, supporters presented the former Deputy President with flowers moments after his arrival, while prayers were offered in thanksgiving for his safe journey.

Some supporters described the visit as an important opportunity for Gachagua to engage directly with Kenyans in the diaspora on issues affecting the country, including governance, economic opportunities, and Kenya’s political future.

“This visit gives Kenyans abroad a chance to interact directly with leaders and share their views on the future of the country,” one supporter said during the reception.

Gachagua’s visit comes at a time when diaspora engagement is increasingly becoming a major factor in Kenya’s political and economic landscape, with leaders seeking to strengthen connections with citizens living abroad.

The former Deputy President is expected to hold a series of meetings and engagements with Kenyans living in different parts of the United Kingdom during his stay.

His arrival also generated significant attention online, with supporters sharing photos and videos of the reception at Heathrow Airport, describing the turnout as a demonstration of solidarity and growing political influence among Kenyans in the diaspora.
