Over 300 widows from Munyaka ,Ainabkoi Sub-county Sunday  benefited  with food aid  from a humanitarian organization that  has over  the last three  years  supported  many  widows and elderly  within the  Sub County.

The ‘Widows connection community based organization’ provided cooking oil, maize flour, Sugar among other basic needs to the widows and the elderly,

“We begun by offering Christmas to one person three years  ago, we felt that  we had  a duty to really support the Widows in our  community, during the Covid -19 pandemic  we realized many widows and  the  elderly people  lacked  support from the community,” Said Naomi Wairimu and her Husband Wallace Njoroge.

This year we have seen the Number  of  Widows in need increase considerably , we are planning to provide  frequent support to them just in case we get  support from well wishers and members of  the Community added Wairimu.

Some of the beneficiaries lauded the initiative saying the community has shun widows and the vulnerable in society,

“My Husband died in the 80’s for over 20 years now I have been living alone, widows face a lot of challenges and mostly being shunned by the community,” Said one of the Widows.

Kapsoya Member of County Assembly Hon. Isack  Kemboi   who has been supporting the Widows and the vulnerable members of the community at his ward noted that Orphaned children will be prioritized when distributing the Bursary kitty next week,
