Transport on the busy Eldoret–Nakuru Highway was on Monday paralyzed following demonstrations by residents of Burnt Forest in Uasin Gishu County, who are demanding the immediate transfer of a senior police officer.
The protesters accused the officer in charge of crimes at Burnt Forest Police Station, Emily Manoti, of allegedly abetting insecurity in the area.
“Cases of theft, robbery and attacks have risen sharply under her watch. We no longer feel safe, and we want her transferred immediately,” Ann a resident told Hubz Media during the demonstrations.
Along the same route, a section of residents at Ngeria also barricaded the highway, citing the poor state of feeder roads in Kapseret Constituency.

“Our roads have completely deteriorated, yet we have seen zero development from our area MP Oscar Sudi. We’re tired of empty promises,” another protester said.
Confirming the demonstrations, Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said officers had been deployed to restore order and ensure the safety of motorists and residents.
“We are aware of the protests, and our officers are on the ground managing the situation to prevent any breach of peace,” Mwanthi stated.
