Manchester United delivered a commanding performance in challenging conditions to defeat Bournemouth 4-1 in the Premier League Summer Series in Chicago.
Rasmus Højlund set the tone early with a well-taken header, and Patrick Dorgu doubled the lead before halftime as United dominated proceedings.
After the break, Amad Diallo added a third, and substitute Ethan Williams sealed the win with a fourth goal.
Bournemouth managed a late consolation when Matthijs de Ligt accidentally turned the ball past Tom Heaton, but Andoni Iraola’s side were clearly second-best on the day. United looked sharper throughout, with Ruben Amorim’s players growing increasingly confident in his tactical setup.
Despite being without Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha — the latter left out due to fatigue — United showed no signs of slowing down, building on their earlier 2-1 win over West Ham.
A victory over Everton in their final match would see them lift the trophy, but perhaps more significantly, the squad appears to be settling well into Amorim’s system.
