A public officer with the Ministry of Lands has been arrested by Garissa Sub-County detectives for alleged possession of government stores, ammunition, and forged land documents, officials confirmed Tuesday.
Antony Githua Mwangi was apprehended along the Garissa-Lamu road while driving a black Toyota Prado, registration number KDQ 876Y.
The arrest followed a tip-off and resulted in the recovery of sensitive materials, including three 9mm Colt ammunition rounds, six personal cheques each valued at Sh500,000, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) captain badges, and four mobile phones, authorities said.

Detectives subsequently searched Mwangi’s residence in Madogo, accompanied by his brother. There, they discovered five live rounds of 7.62 x 51 mm ammunition, 30 blank title deeds, a lease certificate, and numerous land-related documents.
Additional searches at his residences in Thika and Ruiru uncovered more incriminating evidence, including an original title deed for land in Kajiado, an application for consent from the Kajiado Lands Control Board, and assorted documents linked to suspected fraudulent land transfers.
Mwangi is in custody and is expected to face multiple charges as investigations continue, police said.
