DCI Queens Stun Kenya Prisons to Reach Volleyball League Finals

In an unforgettable showdown at the Kenya Ports Authority Makande Welfare Hall in Mombasa, DCI Queens sealed a thrilling ticket to the Kenya Volleyball National League finals after a dramatic double victory over giants Kenya Prisons.
The detectives brought the heat in the first match of the “best-of-three” semifinal, setting the tone with a fast-paced, high-stakes contest. DCI took the first set 25-21, but the wardens fought back to even things up.
The third set was a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging powerful plays, but DCI edged it 26-24. Kenya Prisons again leveled, forcing a decider. Fresh legs and fierce hitting from Caroline Jeruto helped DCI seal the final set 15-12, drawing roars from the packed hall.
With one win, DCI entered the second match determined, but Kenya Prisons came out hungry for revenge. The encounter was another five-set thriller, packed with tactical shifts and explosive rallies.

Fired up by crowd energy and on-court leadership from Sarah Namisi and Sharon Jeruto, DCI stormed to a 6-1 lead in the final set. Though Kenya Prisons rallied to lead 12-10, the detectives, with a late surge led by Caroline Sirengo and Namisi, closed it out 15-12, igniting jubilation among players and fans alike.
With the semifinal victory, DCI Queens will now face Kenya Pipeline Company in the grand finale at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in June.
DCI team manager Neddy Kilimo couldn’t hide her excitement, praising the team’s grit and unity. Director of Personnel Mr. Francis Ndiema congratulated the players, urging them to aim for gold, while Administrative Secretary Mr. Peter Sichangi echoed the message of going all the way.
From underdogs to title contenders, DCI Queens have shown they’re not just here to play — they’re here to win.
