The County Government of Uasin Gishu is in discussions with sports betting firm SportPesa to enhance sports development and talent nurturing in the region.
The talks aim to expand the scope and organization of local sports tournaments, aligning with Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s fifth development pillar focused on sports and talent.
Key among the proposals is supporting teams registered for the Governor’s Cup to participate in external leagues.
During a meeting with a SportPesa delegation, County Executive for Sports, Eng. Lucy Ng’endo, confirmed that the County is formulating a policy to guide the organization of tournaments.
Chief Officer for Sports, CPA Victorine Kapkiai, highlighted the region’s rich sports talent and expressed readiness to collaborate on initiatives that benefit the youth.

Senior county officials present at the meeting included Director of Sports Nicholas Busienei, Assistant Director Viola Korir, and Principal Economist Stephen Kung’u.
