Lionel Messi, the most decorated footballer in history with 46 major titles, recently shared insights into his personal connection with his trophies and his enduring bond with Barcelona.
In a candid interview, Messi revealed that the majority of his accolades, including his Ballon d’Ors and Golden Boots, are housed in a private museum in Barcelona, underscoring the city’s significance in his illustrious career.
“Everything I own is in Barcelona, there at the museum,” Messi stated, highlighting the sentimental value of preserving his achievements in the city where he spent over two decades.
He also mentioned having a special place in Argentina for some of his trophies, reflecting his deep-rooted connections to both his homeland and his long-time club.
Reflecting on his journey, Messi expressed, “It’s difficult to keep so many trophies! But it’s great to have won them. You’re in the moment and everything, but with time you appreciate it much more.” This sentiment showcases his gratitude and the evolving appreciation he holds for his accomplishments as time passes.
Messi’s tenure at Barcelona was marked by unprecedented success, securing 35 titles, including ten La Liga championships and four UEFA Champions League trophies.
Despite his departure in 2021 due to financial constraints faced by the club, Messi has consistently referred to Barcelona as “the club of my life,” expressing a desire to maintain a close relationship with the institution.
On the international stage, Messi’s perseverance culminated in triumphs with Argentina, winning the Copa América in 2021 and the FIFA World Cup in 2022. These victories not only filled the previously elusive gap in his trophy cabinet but also solidified his legacy as a global football icon.
Currently playing for Inter Miami, Messi continues to inspire fans worldwide, balancing his professional endeavors with cherished memories from his storied past.
