“Nani anasema rais hawezi enda Central Kenya na wao ndio waliamka mapema kuchagua hii serikali?

Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, asserting that President William Ruto’s planned development tour in the Mt. Kenya region will proceed successfully.

Speaking during the launch of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries worth over 71 million Kenyan Shillings for Kapseret Sub-county, Sudi emphasized the President’s commitment to visiting the region.

“Nani anasema rais hawezi enda Central Kenya na wao ndio waliamka mapema kuchagua hii serikali? Huko lazima tutaenda, na tunashukuru  jamii ya Kikuyu kwa sababu ni jamii ambayo imeenea kote nchini na inachukia ukabila,” Sudi stated, highlighting the Kikuyu community’s widespread presence and their stance against tribalism.

Gatundu  North Member of Parliament, Elijah Kururia, also assured the President of the Mt. Kenya community’s unwavering support, urging residents to welcome the planned visit. “Sisi kama Wakikuyu hatuwezi fuata mtu hayuko kwa kiti. Mt. Kenya haina rais wawili; tunaye rais mmoja tu, William Samoei Ruto, ambaye hahitaji ruhusa yeyote kuweza kutembelea eneo la Mlima Kenya,” Kururia added, underscoring that President Ruto does not require permission to tour the region.

President Ruto’s Planned Mt. Kenya Tour

President William Ruto is set to embark on a five-day development tour of the Mt. Kenya region, commencing on Saturday. The itinerary includes commissioning various projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public services. Key activities involve opening water projects, launching road constructions, and inaugurating healthcare facilities across counties such as Kirinyaga, Nyeri, and Kiambu. The tour will also feature an interdenominational prayer service at Sagana State Lodge and meetings with local leaders to discuss development agendas.

National Intelligence Reports on the Visit

Reports from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) indicate mixed reactions to the President’s planned visit. While many residents anticipate development benefits, some express concerns over unfulfilled promises and the high cost of living. The NIS advises the President to address these issues directly to bolster public confidence. Additionally, the agency highlights the importance of managing local political dynamics, especially in light of tensions following the impeachment of former Deputy President Gachagua.

Political Dynamics in Mt. Kenya

The President’s visit comes amid evolving political landscapes in the Mt. Kenya region. Following the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua, the area has experienced shifts in political alliances and sentiments. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been instrumental in coordinating with local leaders to ensure the success of the upcoming tour. Meetings have been held to track development projects and address community concerns, aiming to solidify support for the President’s initiatives.
