The Social Health Authority (SHA) initiative gained renewed momentum as First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto and Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, championed its adoption during a service at the African Inland Church (AIC) Pioneer in Eldoret.
Speaking to congregants, the leaders emphasized the importance of the Taifa Care program, a cornerstone of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
They urged Kenyans to embrace the program as a transformative approach to achieving affordable and quality healthcare for all, a critical step towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto highlighted the significance of community involvement in the success of the SHA initiative.
“Taifa Care is not just about healthcare services; it is about ensuring every Kenyan has access to the dignity of quality medical care,” she said. “By supporting this program, we are collectively working towards a healthier, stronger nation.”
Ms. Mary Muthoni echoed these sentiments, stressing the SHA’s role in reducing healthcare disparities and improving overall well-being.
She called on Kenyans to actively participate in the program, recognizing its potential to transform lives and communities across the country.
The event drew a host of prominent leaders, including Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, Kapseret MP Hon. Oscar Sudi, and Nominated MP Hon. Joseph Wainaina, who reiterated their commitment to the initiative.
Governor Bii praised the program as a pathway to sustainable healthcare, noting its alignment with Kenya’s broader development goals.
The SHA initiative, underpinned by the principles of accessibility and affordability, aims to decentralize healthcare services and empower communities to take charge of their health needs.
By integrating community-level health systems, the program seeks to address pressing issues such as high medical costs, inequitable access, and limited health infrastructure.
During the service, the leaders urged congregants to become ambassadors of the program, spreading awareness and encouraging their communities to enroll.
The success of the SHA rollout, they emphasized, depends on grassroots support and a collective commitment to the vision of Universal Health Coverage.
The event concluded with prayers and pledges of support for the initiative, signaling a shared determination to make quality healthcare a reality for every Kenyan.
As the SHA continues its rollout, all eyes are on its ability to deliver on its promise of a healthier and more equitable future.
