The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has announced an extension to the 2026 player transfer and registration deadline which gives clubs extra time to complete their team rosters for the upcoming season.
The URU announced a deadline change which now extends from 30 January 2026 to 4 February 2026 at 16:00hrs according to the notice published on Friday 30 January 2026.
All activities which include player transfers and new player registrations and season roster submission will experience delays because of the extension. The decision implements the 2026 Uganda Premiership Terms of Participation and the 2026 Season Activity Calendar according to their specified requirements.
The URU established regulations which outline the process for mid-season transfers. Clubs will have the right to bring back their players who currently play for other teams during this time.
The mid-season transfer period begins immediately after domestic XVs season ends and it lasts for 14 calendar days until domestic Sevens season begins.
The Union encouraged clubs with questions or clarification needs to reach out to the URU CEO or Chief Technical Officer via [technical@ugandarugbyunion.com](mailto:technical@ugandarugbyunion.com).
Isaac Lutwama Nsubuga Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Rugby Union signed the notice.
