Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has praised Uasin Gishu Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) for what he described as “maturity and focus in leadership,” commending them for maintaining unity with Governor Jonathan Bii rather than engaging in divisive politics.

Speaking at his Kapseret home during an empowerment event where he handed over motor vehicle and motorcycle logbooks to members of several boda boda Saccos, Sudi said the cordial relationship between various levels of leadership in the county has enabled leaders to deliver on their election pledges.

“I want to thank our MCAs for working harmoniously with the Governor and other leaders,” said Sudi. “Every cadre of governance in Uasin Gishu has played its role responsibly. That unity has helped us stay focused on development and the promises we made to our people.”

The legislator dismissed critics who have been attacking his empowerment programs on social media, accusing them of engaging in premature politics.

“We’ve seen a few people trolling me on TikTok and other social platforms, trying to discredit these empowerment programs,” Sudi said. “I want to tell them to stop spreading propaganda. These are real, people-centred initiatives that have uplifted hundreds of families. From next year, every month we’ll hold empowerment drives at the ward level to reach even more groups.”

Sudi revealed that his office has already spent over KSh 28 million this year alone, supporting mama mbogas across Kapseret—each receiving KSh 10,000 to boost their small-scale businesses.

He also urged beneficiaries to embrace a saving culture to expand their ventures, saying several boda boda Saccos that had previously benefited with new vehicles were now thriving.

“We supported some boda boda Saccos with brand new cars, and I’m happy they’re doing really well. I want to encourage those who’ve not received anything not to lose hope—we will continue rolling out more empowerment programs,” he added.

One of the beneficiaries, a boda boda rider who received his logbook, expressed gratitude to the MP for keeping his word.

“Today I am happy I came to receive my motorcycle logbook, and it has been handed over to me,” said the rider. “I want to thank my MP. Some people said this program wasn’t real, but I want to assure them it is real. This motorbike has completely transformed my life.”

During the event, Sudi reiterated his unwavering support for Governor Jonathan Bii, urging other elected leaders to focus on service delivery instead of early campaigns.

“Let’s give our leaders the opportunity to deliver on their promises. Six months to the next election, everyone will have their chance to return to the people and seek re-election based on their record,” he said.

The remarks come amid reports that several politicians in Uasin Gishu have begun positioning themselves for various seats ahead of the 2027 General Election, including the governor’s position. The latest reports indicate that one local politician, who had declared interest for an Mp seat , has been missing for five days—raising concern among his supporters who suspect he may have been abducted.

Since the beginning of 2025, Sudi has led a series of empowerment initiatives in his Constituency targeting youth, women, and small-scale traders. Earlier this year, his office distributed salon equipment, welding machines, and car wash kits to community groups, saying the programs aim to promote self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods rather than dependency.

“Our goal is to empower people to stand on their own, create jobs, and improve their families’ welfare,” Sudi said in a previous event.
