The countdown in Eldoret was abuzz with excitement as Safaricom continued their countrywide Shangwe @25 promotions, celebrating 25 years of service and transformative impact in Kenya. Among the latest winners of the campaign were Jairus Wafula, a local entrepreneur, and Samson Koiyet, a committed farmer, who won brand-new Bajaj Boxer motorcycles each-a prize set to elevate their livelihoods and daily operations.
Jairus Wafula, proprietor of Manjoki International Limited, a thriving motor hub in Eldoret, was overcome with joy during the prize handover. “I have been invited by Safaricom to receive this gift, and I am truly grateful,” he said. Wafula, who has been a loyal user of Safaricom’s internet and mobile services for a while now, explained how the motorcycle will enhance his business operations. “This Bajaj bike will improve our work efficiency tremendously. We often travel long distances to serve customers, and it will substantially cut down the work pressure on my staff,” he added. He mentioned the ease with which M-PESA, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity are used to manage the internal communication of his staff, payment processing, and CCTV operations within the premise, adding that most of their clients prefer using M-PESA while transacting with them.
The win was surreal, says Samson Koiyet, the winner. “At first, it was hard to believe someone can actually win anything from Safaricom-until I received the call from their agent,” he said with a broad smile. Koiyet, who had previously won an internet Wi-Fi device last year, described the motorcycle as life-changing. “As a farmer, transporting produce from the farm to the market has always been a challenge. This bike will make everything easier and faster,” he explained, emphasizing how the prize will improve efficiency and reduce transport costs.
Both winners hailed Safaricom for its transparency and inclusivity since any person, whatever the age or background, has an equal chance of participating and winning. Koiyet said, “Safaricom does not discriminate-whether young or old, anyone can win. That fairness is what makes it special.”
The Safaricom Shukrani @25 campaign continues to touch lives across the country, with the daily transactions presenting an opportunity to win rewards that improve businesses, households, and livelihoods. Launched to commemorate the company’s silver jubilee, the initiative cements Safaricom’s continued commitment toward empowering Kenyans through innovative communication and financial solutions. As the celebrations came to a close, both Wafula and Koiyet rode away proudly on their new motorcycles, proud testimonials to the company’s pledge-with Safaricom, opportunity knows no limit. Their stories help show how strategic engagement with technology and services can make all the difference in daily life and continue to reinforce Safaricom as a catalyst for growth and prosperity throughout Kenya.
