President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s strong diplomatic ties with France, calling the European nation a key ally and partner in global reforms.

After holding talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Seville, Spain, Ruto emphasized Kenya’s commitment to deepening cooperation with France across various sectors.

“France remains one of our closest allies, with a partnership rooted in decades of mutual respect and shared goals,” Ruto said.

The two leaders discussed ongoing global efforts to reform the international financial system. Macron voiced firm support for Kenya’s leadership, especially under the Pact for Prosperity, People, and Planet, a global initiative the two countries co-chaired.

Ruto noted that Kenya and France are working closely at the multilateral level to push for financial fairness, climate action, and sustainable development — a vision both countries are championing together.

Looking ahead, President Ruto said the upcoming France-Africa Summit, set to take place in Nairobi in 2026, will provide a major platform to elevate this partnership even further.

“We are excited to host the France-Africa Summit in Nairobi. It will be a chance to turn our shared vision into concrete action,” he added.
