Mental health is an essential part of our overall well-being, affecting how we think, feel, and act. Globally, mental illness impacts millions, with depression affecting 350 million people worldwide. In Kenya, healthcare workers, particularly doctors, face significant mental health challenges due to their demanding work environments. Studies reveal that 44% of doctors experience burnout, with alarming rates of depression and suicide. Stigma, poor working conditions, long hours, and financial stress worsen their struggles, leaving them hesitant to seek help. Addressing mental health stigma and integrating mental health services into general healthcare are key steps toward improving the well-being of Kenyans, especially frontline workers.
