The National Police Service says the police constable recruitment exercise will be conducted on November 17, 2025, in various parts of the country as part of its continued efforts to boost national security and ensure effective policing across the country.
In a public notice, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said that the exercise would be conducted simultaneously in 422 designated recruitment centres spread across all counties. All applicants have been directed to report to their respective venues at 8:00 a.m. for screening and verification. The recruitment process shall be supervised by senior police officers and officials from other relevant government departments to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness throughout the exercise.
The Inspector General emphasized that the process of recruitment is going to be absolutely free, cautioning applicants against offering or receiving bribes or any corrupt practice. He reminded Kenyans again that anyone found trying to influence the exercise through bribery or fraud will face the full force of the law. “The recruitment is open and free for all eligible Kenyans. Any form of corruption or malpractice during the process is a criminal offence,” said Kanja.
The announcement comes in the wake of a High Court ruling that the NPSC has no power to recruit, train, or promote members of the NPS. Under Article 245 of the Constitution, according to the court’s ruling, such powers rest exclusively with the Inspector General of Police.
The qualified candidates should be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, with a valid national ID card, and at least a KCSE mean grade of D+, with a D+ in either English or Kiswahili. Candidates must also be physically and medically fit. The minimum height requirement has been set at 5 feet 8 inches for men and 5 feet 3 inches for women.
Applicants should have no criminal record or case pending in court, while female candidates are expected not to be pregnant at the time of recruitment and during training. The NPS also invited those who graduated from National Youth Service, provided they meet the qualifications, adding that their prior training is an added advantage.
Application forms are available for downloading on official government websites and can also be collected from Huduma Centres. Candidates should bring the original and photocopies of their academic certificates, national ID, birth certificate, and, where applicable, an NYS discharge certificate rated at least “Good” in conduct on the recruitment day. The public was asked to forward information on any suspected or corrupt deals on toll-free numbers 999, 911, 112, and the #FichuaKwaDCI hotline 0800 722 203. The NPS promised citizens that all complaints and tips would be handled with utmost confidentiality, as the service seeks to maintain integrity in the upcoming recruitment exercise.
