Kenya Ports Authority KPA has dissolved the entire Board of Trustees that oversees Bandari Football Club. This has come in the wake of a string of disappointing performances recorded in the ongoing Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL). The decision was addressed through an internal memo issued by KPA Managing Director, Captain William Ruto, on December 9, 2025.

According to the memo, the board, constituted in March and chaired by Stephen Toya, was part of a wider blueprint to restructure and revive the performance of the club. The 18-member board comprised senior KPA officials and key figures within the club’s management. Capt. Ruto, who acted as Patron, Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak, Club CEO Tony Kibwana, Treasurer Ayub Nyata, and a spate of trustees including Nurein Shakuwa, Cleopatra Taabu, John Kiptoo Maritim, Patricia Manthi, Vincent Kosgey, Ricky Solomon, Salim Ali, Mohamed Madigi, and Secretary David Buchere.

In a memo exclusively obtained by Nation Sport addressed to all General Managers and Divisional Managers and copied to FKF President Hussein Mohamed, Bandari said their recent results meant decisive action was required. “Acknowledging the competitive nature of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League and keen to re-strategize the club’s performance, Management hereby dissolves the 2025 Board of Trustees as currently constituted,” Capt. Ruto wrote.

Bandari FC, which normally has heavy financial support from KPA, has underperformed compared to expectations this season. Despite heavy investment, which includes the appointment of a head coach who previously played for the Morocco national team named Mohamed Borjia, the team is currently 14th in the league table with just 12 points from 10 matches.

Sources close to the club describe growing pressure on the coach, with Friday’s match against Gor Mahia in Mombasa being seen as a stern test. Insiders say another disappointing result might put his position under threat, which would further heighten tension at the club.

Meanwhile, defending champions Kenya Police top the Premier League classification with 20 points, with Gor Mahia coming second, having garnered 19 points from 10 matches each. The dissolution of Bandari’s board is arguably the most drastic administrative decision taken by KPA in recent years, pointing toward an urgent push to restore the team’s competitiveness in the top tier of Kenyan football.
