Alice Wahome’s Political Journey

Alice Wahome Muthoni is a Kenyan politician, born on April 28th 1959. She is a lawyer by profession. She was born and brought up in Kandara constituency, Muranga County.
Education
Alice began her education in Karumu primary school, and went to Bishop Gatimu Ngandu and Siakago high schools. She then joined the University of Nairobi for a bachelor’s degree in law and later Kenya school of law for her postgraduate studies.
Family and marriage
Alice is the wife of Godfrey Wahome, a renowned gynecologist and together they have been blessed with four children.
Political career
Between 1991 and 2001, her leadership skills began manifesting as she was actively involved in advocating for the women and children rights, and later the Federation of women lawyers (FIDA), where she became the vice chairperson.
She also served as a council member of the Law Society of Kenya for two years.

Her political career began in 2002.
In 2007, she vied on NARC Kenya party ticket but lost.
In 2013, she vied again as Kandara Mp on a Jubilee Party ticket and won.
She defended the seat in 2017 and emerged the winner.
Alice was the vice chairperson of the justice and legal affairs committee at the 12 National assembly but was deprived the position, when she was grouped as one of the defiant leaders within the ruling Jubilee party.
Alice has been a strong supporter of President William Ruto in his concluded campaigns, and a strong critic of retired president Kenyatta since the handshake with Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
She was recently nominated to the position of Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation.
