Kenyan Hitmaker King Kanja Unites with Bien, Okello Max, and American R&B Star Bobby V for New Single “Leo”

Kenyan hitmaker King Kanja has joined forces with Bien, Okello Max, and American R&B sensation Bobby V to drop their latest single, “Leo.” This Amapiano-pop track, produced by SoFresh, emerged from a studio session masterminded by King Kanja and music engineer Trevor Magak.
Reflecting on the collaborative process, King Kanja shares, “Being surrounded by brilliant musical minds is incredibly inspiring for me. I could feel the magic unfolding as we created something truly special. It was a blessing for all of us to contribute our creativity and watch it evolve into this masterpiece.” He continues, “I was already familiar with Bobby V’s and Bien’s music, but the biggest revelation was Okello Max! After witnessing his phenomenal performance at the WeLoveRnB Nairobi concert, I knew I had to collaborate with him. His delivery on this track confirmed that he is a true creative genius.”
A London-born Kenyan artist now based in the U.S., King Kanja first connected with Bobby V in Kenya during a 2018 concert. Their partnership has since yielded multiple hits, including the 2023 EP ‘Foreign Exchange’. King Kanja views “Leo” as another significant milestone in their journey, stating, “Whether we’re returning to Kenya or traveling abroad, we always find time to hit the studio. This time, I had the chance to bring together these incredible artists.”

Looking ahead, King Kanja is gearing up for the release of his seventh studio album, ‘SOVEREIGN’, which promises to be his most groundbreaking work to date. He notes, “We’ve dedicated months of hard work in New York to ‘SOVEREIGN’. I am excited for the world to experience this album, which is set to transcend boundaries and influence the global music scene.” The project will explore an eclectic mix of genres including Afrobeats, Amapiano, House, Hip-hop, R&B, and Reggae, with a planned release in 2024.
Born in London to a Kenyan family and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, King Kanja emerged onto the music scene with a record-breaking performance on B.E.T’s ‘106 and Park’. In 2017, he earned a nomination at the Afrimma Awards in Dallas, Texas for the ‘Crossing Boundaries with Music’ award, alongside international stars like Wale, Wizkid, and French Montana. His impressive career includes performances with renowned artists such as Bobby V, Beenie Man, Shaggy, Demarco, Rick Ross, Kanye West, Fabolous, Akon, and Wyclef Jean. Notably, he performed at President Uhuru Kenyatta’s final election rally in Kenya, his largest audience to date. King Kanja’s discography includes three EPs: VIBES*(2017), MUCHOKI (2019), FOREIGN EXCHANGE (2023), two albums: VIBE LORD (2020) and VIBRATIONS (2020), and one greatest hits compilation: MFALME (2023).
