Likuyani Member of Parliament in Kakamega County,Mugabe Innocent Maino has castigated the Director general of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA),following the delayed construction of the Matunda-Brigadier Road.
Speaking to Hubzmedia ,Mugabe said that the poor condition of the road has caused damage and hindered transportation between the three counties of Bungoma ,Kakamega and Uasin Gishu .
“The residents of this area and Tongaren Bungoma County are facing a major transportation challenge ,this is a critical link road supporting thousands of livelihoods in the three counties , however despite KeRRA having awarded a tender to M/s JIANGSU construction company ,works on this road have not commenced thus affecting daily activities”Noted Mugabe.
As the area member of parliament it has been difficult to allocate resources on this road since its tender has already been awarded by KeRRA and therefore it would raise audit queries if we were to use NG-CDF to allocate further resources, however we have joined hands with the area residents and contributed money towards the murruming of this road ahead of the anticipated heavy Rains ,Added Mugabe.
The Mp further questioned why the contractor was paid up front, but no work had begun yet, and demanded KeRRA Director General to with immediate effect issue the contract to another capable contractor.
