Kwale County Governor Launches Kizingo Dam That will distribute water to over 2,000 House holds

Kwale county Governor Fatuma Achani has launched  a 107.9 million kizingo  dam in Macknon ward samburu subcounty.
The dam will distribute water to over 2,376 people  cutting across five villages.
Among the villages that will receive clean and treated water include Mwangaza, Kizingo A, kizingo B,Donje and Ryakalui village
The water will also be used by the residents to undertake irrigation farming as well as livestock keeping.
The dam has a capacity to  hold over  532,740 M3 of water that will be sustainable throughout the drought season.
While addressing the locals, kwale county boss Fatuma Achani says that county is investing heavily on water infrastructure to ensure that kwale residents have access to clean water .
“We will build more dams across the county to ensure our residents  have sufficient water for domestic and agricultural purposes through irrigation”.She Said.
According to Achani, availability of clean water will help  fight hunger  in the county especially during the drought season,  construction of more dams  will enable residents to venture into agriculture and boost food production in Kwale County.
Her sentiments were echoed by Kwale deputy governor Chirema Kombo  who called upon other development partners to aid kwale County government in the improvement of water infrastructure.
Simon Wall the general manager Base Titanium says that as a private mining company they will work with the county government to ensure that kwale county government spurs development in the county through improvement of infrastructure including water,roads and health.
Later on the county Boss in collaboration with Base Titanium distributed relief food to over 1650  households to five villages in macknon ward that are hard hit  by drought.
The villages include mwangaza ,donje,kizingo A and B, and Ryakalui village.
The relief food include 1650 bags of maize flour, beans and cooking oil.
