The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to combating transnational organised crime through intelligence-led investigations, inter-agency collaboration and the strategic use of technology to identify and dismantle criminal networks.

Speaking on behalf of the Director, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, during a security panel discussion at the ongoing 2026 Mashujaa Day Thematic Week Exhibition at Eldoret National Polytechnic, Francis Ndiema, HSC, SAIG, Director Investigation Bureau (IB) at DCI Headquarters, said the evolving nature of cross-border crime demands a whole-of-government approach.

Ndiema underscored that effective intelligence sharing, active intelligence committees and coordinated operations are critical in tracing criminal networks, disrupting their activities and preventing criminals from exploiting Kenya’s borders to facilitate illicit operations.

“Close collaboration among relevant security agencies is essential to strengthening national security and ensuring a coordinated response to evolving security threats,”  Ndiema stated.

He further highlighted the central role of technology in modern criminal investigations, noting that its strategic application, coupled with intelligence-driven operations, is vital in keeping pace with increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

The security panel, which drew participants from various security agencies, students and members of the public, offered a valuable platform to sensitise citizens on emerging security threats and deepen understanding of evolving criminal trends, including human trafficking, drug trafficking, cybercrime and illicit financial flows.

The DCI reiterated that it remains steadfast in its mandate to detect, investigate and disrupt criminal activities, dismantle organised criminal networks and bring offenders to justice in collaboration with local and international partners.
