Mashujaa Day Preparations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium Reach 68 Percent

Preparations for this year’s national Mashujaa Day celebrations, scheduled for October 20 at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, have made significant progress, with construction and renovation works at the stadium now 68 percent complete.
The progress was confirmed during an inspection tour led by Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr Raymond Omollo.
Speaking to the media at the stadium, Omollo said work was progressing according to schedule, with the government confident the facility would be ready ahead of the national celebrations.
“The work is progressing well. We are at 68 percent and expect the stadium to be completed by October 14, a few days before the celebrations,” Omollo said.
The PS said the national government was committed to ensuring that Kipchoge Keino Stadium is ready to host the national celebrations, marking the first time Eldoret will host Mashujaa Day.
This year’s celebrations are expected to feature more than the main ceremony at the stadium. A series of sporting activities and other events will be held across three counties in the North Rift region, with the aim of giving more residents an opportunity to participate in the celebrations.
Omollo said the celebrations would provide an opportunity to honour Kenya’s heroes while also highlighting development and achievements in various sectors, including sports, infrastructure and economic development across the Rift Valley.
The preparations are being undertaken jointly by the national government, the Uasin Gishu County Government and neighbouring counties, alongside various agencies responsible for security, health, sports and infrastructure.
The coordination is aimed at ensuring a safe and orderly environment for residents and visitors expected to attend the national celebrations.
Kipchoge Keino Stadium is expected to serve as the main venue for the October 20 celebrations, with authorities maintaining that all remaining works will be completed before the scheduled deadline.
