The State Department of Housing has announced plans to take over and complete 900 stalled housing units under the Kenya Railways Corporation Housing Project in Kibra Constituency, Nairobi.

According to the department, the units will be finalized and allocated to Kibra residents under the government’s Affordable Housing Programme, as part of broader efforts to expand access to decent and affordable homes.

The State Department of Housing will take over and complete the stalled 900 units of the Kenya Railways Corporation Housing Project in Kibra,” the statement said.

In addition, the government revealed plans to construct a further 3,000 housing units on the same parcel of land, significantly increasing the number of beneficiaries and accelerating the transformation of Kibra into a modern residential estate.

“At the same time, we will develop an additional 3,000 housing units on the same Kenya Railways land, expanding access to decent homes and accelerating the transformation of Kibra into a modern estate,” the statement added.

Separately, the government confirmed the handover of eight newly constructed classrooms at Raila Education Centre, a move aimed at improving access to education infrastructure within the constituency.

The projects form part of ongoing government initiatives to enhance housing and social amenities in urban informal settlements.
