Kenya will host FIFA Women’s Series Matches for 2026

This special landmark for Kenya was announced by the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Salim Mvurya, who declared that hosting the 2026 FIFA Women’s Series Matches was a first for the country as an exchange of gestures indicative of the world’s trust on Kenya to host such high-profile events.
Invitation to – and a Warm Welcome to – Participating Nations
Teams from India, Australia, and Malawi, along with their fans and officials, have officially been welcomed in Kenya. Kenya intends to show the world the not just the athletic prowess of her women but also the rich cultural heritage, diversity, and hospitable nature of the Kenyan people.
A Feather on Women’s Football
The games, designed to nurture and showcase emerging talent, premised mainly on football for women, will be held on April 11th and 15th at the Nyayo National Stadium. Harambee Starlets shall envisage participating as an ordinary team in Kenya, yet standing tall with some pride in representing the country.
Enhancing Sports Development
As it continues to develop sports, the government focuses on investing in sports infrastructure to help in the development of talent, among others, through academies, advanced grassroots programs, and partnerships. The overall aim is to improve global competitiveness and make the country ready for more competition. Like the AFCON tournament in 2027.
A Plea for National Support
To make the matches a success, Mvurya is encouraging Kenyans to turn up in large numbers to support the national teams, which he believes can be made possible through unity and deep feelings of national pride.
