The 2026 rugby season nj mis fast approaching, and @HeathensRFC has been busy assembling a squad that is poised to dominate. With a perfect blend of experienced internationals, rising stars, and hard-hitting players, the Yellow Machine is ready to take on the competition.

Aaron Atoke – The American Boy Joins the Yellow Machine

One of the first major signings of the off-season, Aaron Atoke (a.k.a “American Boy”) has made the move from Buffaloes RFC to Heathens, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a burning desire to win trophies. The winger and full-back spent six years at the Buffaloes, where he established himself as one of the league’s top players.

“I decided to move to Heathens because of the goals I’m chasing,” Atoke explained. “Buffaloes and Heathens are both big teams, but some ambitions need a bigger stage. I want to help Heathens win trophies and continue to improve as a player. I also dream of playing for the national team, whether in 7s or 15s.”Already fitting in well with the squad,

Jason Nuwamanya – The Versatile Playmaker

From Eagles RFC, Heathens have secured Jason Nuwamanya, a player who finished 7th in the league’s top scorer list last season with 90 points. Nuwamanya, who can cover multiple positions—including Flanker, Eighth Man, Center, and Winger—brings versatility, speed, and a nose for the try line.

“I wanted to see the air up here,” Nuwamanya said, reflecting on his decision to join Heathens. “I walked in, saw big names working hard, and it pushed me to join. I’m excited to contribute and can’t wait to be part of this team.”

Emma Odoi – A Star in the Making

In one of the most exciting transfers of the season, Heathens have added young talent Emma Odoi from Jinja Hippos. Odoi, who plays primarily at #12 (First Center) and Fly Half, brings creativity, solid defense, and a competitive edge to the midfield.

“I’m thankful to Heathens for bringing in these new signings,” Odoi said. “What attracted me here is the quality in this squad. Many players have national team experience, and I want to learn from them.”

Joab Oluoch – Stepping Up from Buffaloes

Joab Oluoch, a product of the Buffaloes RFC, has leaped to join Heathens, a club he’s long admired. The winger, who can also play Center and Full Back, has impressed at every level and is now ready to take on the next challenge.

“Heathens has always been my favorite team,” Oluoch explained. “I just needed more experience before stepping up to this challenge. My goal is to lift trophies this season.”

Oluoch’s speed and power on the wing will add an extra dimension to the Heathens attack, making them even more dangerous on the break.

Yusuf Waiswa – The Front Row Powerhouse

Heathens have also bolstered their forward pack with Yusuf Waiswa, who can play Loose Head Prop, Tight Head Prop, and Hooker. Waiswa brings incredible versatility and physicality to the front row, as well as strong technical ability in the set piece.

“I chose Heathens because of their great facilities and strong ambition,” Waiswa said. “I’m excited to contribute to the success of this club and to play for a team with such a rich history.”

Matthew Musasizi – Back and Hungrier Than Ever

Heathens fans are also welcoming back scrum half and fly half Matthew Musasizi, who returns from a loan spell at Impis Rugby Club. Now sharper, hungrier, and more focused than ever, Musasizi is excited to rejoin a squad he believes can challenge for the title this season.

“What attracted me most to Heathens is the strong identity, the massive winning culture, and the ambition of the club,” Musasizi shared. “I’m excited about the squad we have, and I’m focused on helping us win the league this season.”

King David Wako – The Tough No. 8

Rounding off the impressive list of new signings is King David Wako, a tough No. 8 who can also pack down at Prop. Wako’s powerful running, hard hits, and leadership will add a physical edge to Heathens’ forward pack.

“I chose Heathens because I believe I have what it takes to contribute to us winning again,” Wako said. “This is a huge club with a great culture, and for a man like me, who has achieved all I have so far, this was the natural next step.”
