The Department of Roads, Trans Nzoia County, is set to hold an important stakeholders’ meeting for the adoption of its road maintenance plan, according to Chief Officer for Roads, Eng. Joseph Wasike.
In a briefing from his office on Tuesday, Eng. Wasike said the forum will bring together Members of the County Assembly, County Executive Committee Members, technical staff, and plant operators. The meeting will serve as the final step in validating the department’s priority list of the roads that are proposed for upgrades.
“We have identified roads in need of urgent repairs and this meeting will provide an avenue for stakeholders to scrutinize, approve and give the green light for work to start without delay,” Eng. Wasike said.
He said the county will use its internal road maintenance model—where equipment and staff are deployed by the government—to rehabilitate 48 kilometres of road in each of the 25 wards. Members will also decide during the meeting how many kilometres will be allocated to external contractors through the outsourced system.
Eng. Wasike further assured residents that the planned works will be closely monitored to ensure adherence to quality standards. He encouraged the residents to remain patient as the county works to restore and improve the road infrastructure.
“Our goal is to deliver durable and reliable roads. We ask the public to bear with us as these improvements roll out, and they can expect safer and more efficient road networks across Trans Nzoia,” he added.
