Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, Wisley Rotich, and his Nandi counterpart, Deputy Governor Eulita Mitei, urged students to be innovative and job creators, rather than job seekers.
“It’s time students use the knowledge gotten in class to create employment opportunities instead of seeking for white collar jobs which are scarce,” he said
The Governor, who spoke during the graduation ceremony held at the institution, congratulated the graduands and urged them to use the knowledge impacted on them to change society.
Over 2,800 students graduated in various disciplines, with leaders reminding them that being a graduate was not the end of the journey.
“We want our students to stand out and be our ambassadors and should avoid corruption at whatever cost,” he added.
She further called on the Ministry of Education to increase funding to the institutions to enable them to run their operations smoothly.
On his part, Eulita Mitei urged students to maintain discipline once they leave university so that they can become role models for the younger generation.
