Residents of Mkongani and Kubo south ward kwale county are calling upon the National government to transfer shimba hills headquarters to Mangawani area to ensure equal provision of national government services at the new shimba hills sub county .
Speaking to journalists at Burani primary school Riziki Hamisi Mwaphasare a mkongani ward resident said they are currently not benefiting fully with national government services since shimba hills sub -county was launched following the distance of the offices .

“we are forced to use more than ksh 1000 for us to reach the offices and get services at the national government , we depend on bodaboda for transportation because there is no direct road to access shimba hills headquarters ,this is very expensive for us but onces the offices will be relocated to Mangawani area it will be a relief for locals from mkongani and kubo south ward ,we will be spending less than a thousand on transport as we seek the services we require ,”Said Ms Mwaphasare .
Mkongani ward representative Yusuf Sengeza affirmed the situation appealing to the national government to act speedily in order for locals to access services freely at Mangawani .

“locals from ,Miatsani , Mbegani ,Mlafyeni and Mtsangatamu are mostly affected ,we don’t have direct road for public transport from Miatsani to shimba hills ,residents are forced to use an upward of ksh 5,000 just to get a signature from the deputy county commissioner or assistant county commissioner unlike before when shimba hills sub-county was under Matuga constituency ,residents used to spend between ksh 200-300 to access national government services at kwale headquarter at Matuga sub county ,this is very challenging and much expensive according to the high cost of living ,”Claimed Mr. Sengeza .
The legislature reiterated that every right of citizens must be protected as per the kenyan constitution .
“We are now appealing to the government to take up the proposal with seriousness and relocate shimba hills headquarters to Mangawani ,we have the shimba hills national reserve that hinders the direct transportation and we cannot clear it down to construct a road because it’s a national government resource ,we are now forced to ask the national government to build shimba hills headquarters at a place where locals will reach services freely ,being their leader I must fight to ensure my people do not suffer by all means and instead benefit the fruits of devolution ,”Posed Mr.Sengeza .
Matuga member of the parliament Kassim Sawa Tandaza confirmed the challenge urging locals to welcome more options on the same so as to achieve an amicable solution.
