Teen Arrested Over Brutal Murder of 3-Year-Old Margaret Kirathe in Nakuru

Police have arrested 17-year-old Lizz Njeri Mwangi, the prime suspect in the shocking murder of 3-year-old Margaret Wanjiru Kirathe in Menengai, Nakuru County.
The arrest follows a distressing report of a child found unconscious near PCEA Shalom Mchanganyiko Church, roughly 50 meters from the scene. Despite efforts to save her, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kenlands Hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Lizz allegedly lured the toddler away from the church to a secluded area, where she reportedly strangled her using a piece of cloth. The motive for the brutal act remains unclear.
Acting on intelligence, officers tracked and arrested the suspect at her home in Judea Village, located in Menengai Sub-Location, Kiamaina Ward. During the arrest, police recovered the suspect’s clothes seen in CCTV footage from the day of the incident, along with the cloth allegedly used in the murder.
Lizz Njeri Mwangi is currently in police custody and will be arraigned once processing is complete. Investigations are ongoing.
