Youth have been urged to be innovative and take advantage of the digital space to hone their skills as well as expand their careers.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot, a professional in the field of Information Technology, said the young generation should use technology to their advantage.

“The world currently relies on technology in so many aspects, with technology at your disposal, you need to find ways of getting into this space and make careers,” said Eng Barorot.

The Deputy Governor  also added that innovations and technological advancements can attract funding and further training. Sometimes Google, for example, runs a training program for young innovators in Information Communication Technology.

County Executive for ICT and Youth, Eng. Lucy Ng’endo, said her department will be rolling out training on talent development and identification, in a bid to make youths better placed for the global job market.

Eng. Barorot was speaking as he graced the North Rift Valley Region Innovation Week Award Ceremony by Eldohub in Eldoret on Thursday. At least 200 participants attended the event.
