Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s spouse Pastor Dorcas Gachagua has called for the empowerment of the boychild and equal opportunities between the two genders as a way of tackling social ills
Dorcas who was speaking in Nyeri county where he met members of the clergy drawn from Nyeri county said they are working towards opening churches to be centers where young men who need rehabilitation can get help adding that they will not only rehabilitate those in need but will also equip them with skills to help them be self reliant.
She Further called for deliberate efforts within the government to ensure there is equity between the boy and the girl child in terms of government support.
“As an office I will engage in getting the boy child out of the streets to churches, once inside there we will offer medication including physiological treatment and once they are fully rehabilitated we will pay for their vocational training and equip them with tools so that they can stand on their own ” She said .
She said that those with addiction will be rehabilitated in churches with every church in the country being a holding ground for social misfits.
“As a servant of God I believe the church should be in the forefront in protecting the boy child. We should not allow this vital human being ,the head of the family unit, to go to waste; this will wipe out the family unit if it goes unchecked ” said Dorcas .
She said her plan is to use a three pronged approach where churches will find and welcome even drunkards and once they are in their armpit they are rehabilitated .
She further said that they will not stop at that but also initiate visits to schools where they will offer boys education on how to evade falling into drug and alcohol addiction as a preventative measure .
Dorcas lamented that at the moment girl child has been empowered through policies initiated by the government wondering who will Marry girls if the boys who are meant to be their husbands are neglected and left to waste their lives.
