Hundreds of Uasin Gishu residents to benefit from Free cancer Screening

Hundreds of Uasin Gishu residents are expected to benefit from free cancer screening camps that have been organized across the six sub counties of Uasin Gishu by the Uasin Gishu Woman rep Gladys Shollei.
Women will undergo free breast cancer examination, cervical cancer screening, prostate cancer test among men and HPV vaccination.
The screening camps will be conducted between 18th of November to 2nd December in Kapseret,Soy,Turbo,Ainabkoi,Moiben and Kesses sub- counties .

According to estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), in 2018 there were 17 million new cancer cases and 9.5 million cancer deaths worldwide.
In Kenya, cancer is the third leading cause of death, Out of all cancers in Kenya, Breast Cancer leads in incidence with 5,985 new cases annually (12.5% of all new cancer cases).
Last Month the Deputy National Assembly Speaker hired 100 lawyers to offer pro bono Legal services to residents especially on Land cases.
The free medical camps are also aimed at creating public awareness on the need to regularly screen for cancer while ensuring health living habits .
