Uasin Gishu County Assembly Friday approved Budget Ad Hoc Committee report on conferment of Eldoret to City status .

The Move paves the way for Eldoret to be elevated to the 5th City in Kenya after Nairobi , Mombasa , Nakuru and Kisumu .

The motion was moved by Hon Amos Kiptanui -MCA Racecourse ward who affirmed the elevation of Eldoret town into a city will transform the economy of the entire North Rift Region .

Hon Isaac Chirchir MCA Soy ward while seconding the motion noted that Eldoret being a business hub for the North Rift region has exceeded all the legal requirements for the conferment .

Deputy speaker Hon Sarah Malel presided over the session .
