Nandi woman murdered two children to get married to new suitor

The  Eldoret High Court Thursday   sentenced  a  34 year old  woman to serve  17 years in jail after  she  was found  having murdered her  two children in order to get  married to another  suitor.

 

Flossy Cherono is said  to have  killed   11 year old  Ivy Chelagat and 7 year old  Beryl  Chepchumba  using a machete  and later   disposed of their bodies inside a pit latrine  on 9th July 2019 at their home in Kaburwo Nandi County.

 

High Court Judge  Reuben Nyakundi  was abstruse  on how  a mother  would commit such a crime against  her  children who trusted her with their care ,protection and love,

 

A postmortem report indicated one of the children had  been strangled to death while the other bled  to death due to a deep cut on the head.

 

Cherono has  14 days to appeal the  ruling.
