The Kenya Post Primary Education Teachers(KUPPET) in Mombasa will Hold mega demonstration on Tuesday against the intended housing levy proposed by the finance bill 2023.
President William Ruto proposes a 3% deduction from all the civil servants salary to help boost the affordable housing agenda.The bill provides that, the sum of the employer and employee contributions shall not exceed Sh5,000 a month.
According to a letter by KUPPET Executive Secretary as seen by the Hubzmedia, the demonstrations will commence from the Pembe za Ndovu area to the treasury square as from 9am to 10am on the set date.
The union is calling upon all heads of schools and teachers to turn up in large numbers and uphold their constitutional rights as enshrined in article 37 of 2010 constitution which gives them a right to hold peaceful demonstrations, assemble and picket.
