Moi Teaching Marks Patient Safety awareness week!

The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Eldoret has donated over 7,000 sanitary towels that will help hundreds of young girls in Trans Nzoia County.
Speaking during the official launch of the Patient Safety awareness week, MTRH CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa has affirmed that the sanitary towels will benefit 12,000 girls for a period of three months.
“We are donating 7,400 sanitary towels to vulnerable 12,000 girls through a Trans Nzoia based NGO that will go a long way in ensuring menstrual hygiene for the young girls ,This also ensures that girls quality learning time in school” Stated the MTRH Boss.
Regarding the Patient safety at the Facility Dr. Aruasa further emphasized the need to ensure the patient and the patient’s family are involved in the health care provision,
“It’s important for the family of the patients and even the patients themselves to provide relevant patients history that will enable the healthcare providers provide the right care and medication”
As a facility James Lebo heads the Patient Safety Committee that will in this entire week visit all the hospital departments and units just to create the necessary awareness among our patients and health care providers regarding their safety.
“When doing surgery we have to ensure that we are doing surgery to the right patient and to the right side of the body to avoid unnecessary complications,” Dr Aruasa noted.
He said communication between patients and doctors should be family centered.
“We are appealing to Counties and all other hospitals in Kenya and beyond that the hospitals we run should be safe and patient friendly through proper communication and evaluation of patients,” he said.
