List of 50 unclaimed bodies set for disposal by MTRH!
The Moi Teaching and referral hospital will on Tuesday dispose of 50 unclaimed bodies at the Kiplombe cemetery.
The CEO MTRH Dr. Wilson Aruasa says the bodies have remained unclaimed for several months- The Public Health Act and Public Health (Public Health Mortuaries) Rules, 1991 allow for disposal after 21 days.
“Here they have stayed for several months and we still added a week, with no families claiming the decedent bodies, we’ll go ahead and dispose of them”Said Dr. Aruasa
A majority of Bodies are male Adults whose exact age is not known .
“We have taken time, worked with the DCI and National Registration Bureau( NRB) to identify those we could using fingerprints technology and informed their families to collect the bodies”Added the MTRH boss.
The unclaimed bodies will be disposed of on Tuesday 4th April at the Kiplombe Public cemetery ,following the lapse of a 7 day notice that had been issued by the Hospital on 29th of March this year.
