Kipkaren/Kipkenyo Member of County Assembly David Letting Kemeli alias  Kokwas  who has in the  recent past been accused  of  massive Land  grabbing has refuted claims of his  involvement in grabbing of  half  an acre A.I.C Kimoson church land to pave way for the construction of  an ECDE.

Speaking during a public Baraza that was attended by Kapseret Sub county security committee, Kokwas argued the land in question was a public utility set  aside  for the construction of  a county Early Childhood Education (ECDE) School.

“The donor gave a 1-acre piece of land to the A.I.C Kimoson church and 0.5 acres to the school. In fact, the church wants to grab the land set aside for the construction of the ECDE School and not me as purported by a section of the media,” said Kokwas.

“We have already started building Kimoson ECDE School and currently we have 35 ECDE learners. All parents and residents of this area have disagreed with the church’s action of closing the school” He added.

Kokwas has further distanced himself from allegations of grabbing peoples land claiming his father had more than enough land to bequeath him in case he needed any.

“I have no claims with anyone. There was a time when all journalists in Eldoret together with the government publicly asked for anyone  with accusations against me to report such matters to the relevant  authorities  but no one has shown up” He argued.

Kokwas has sent a stern warning to the church and blamed its leadership for the closure of the road that leads to the school that has been collapsed since 2015 when Cleophas Kiprono the current area chief was the Head Teacher of the Kimoson academy.

“Pupils have to walk for a distance of 2 kilometers to access the school because the church has blocked the access road,” said Kokwas.

However Hubzmedia has since established that the County government of Uasin Gishu is planning to pay off in the coming week KSH2M for the purchase of the ECDE land and another KSH1M for the construction of ECDE classes.

The church leaders led by Joseph Maina who absconded the meeting claim there is an active court order that bars such meetings as the once presided over by the Security committee as well as  any attempts to continue with the  subdivision of the said land  until the matter  is  conclusively dealt with by the court.

“They Claim the land in question is a public  utility ,we know the county government  has already allocated money for the purchase of  an ECDE land, let them tell Kenyans who wants to pocket the Public  funds? “He noted

Kapseret Sub County security meeting held at Kimoson Academy Kipkenyo.

Kapseret Sub county deputy county commissioner John Opondo  who presided over  the security meeting pointed out that the current church   dispute is over the KSH3M shillings set to be disbursed by the County government  as well as aspects of political incitement.

“We will not hesitate to arrest anyone be it the  area  MCA if  he violates  the law ,and this meeting has neither  concluded that the  church should be closed, and since the land owner is  alive let  the  due process be followed to allocate such a land for public use,”He  affirmed
