JSS Teachers Stage Demonstrations in Uasin Gishu County, Urging Government for Employment
Dissatisfied with the government’s failure to honor its commitment, these teachers, part of a nationwide movement, highlighted the disparity between the over 40,000 JSS teachers employed last year and the mere 9,000 intern teachers hired by the TSC.
Nearly 1,000 junior secondary school (JSS) teachers currently on internship staged a peaceful demonstration in Eldoret on Monday, urging the national government, specifically the Teacher Service Commission (TSC), to fulfill its promise of permanent, pensionable employment.
Additionally, they expressed disappointment in the Uasin Gishu branches of the KNUT and KUPPET teachers’ unions for not adequately supporting their cause.
