Jenga Mkenya Movement leader  and former Presidential Aspirant Reuben Kigame now says they will join opposition leader Raila Odinga in the Monday peaceful demonstrations.

He says they  will join the demonstrations because Azimio has included people-centered reasons in the protests,

“We will be joining the Monday protests, but only for citizen centered reasons. We are not interested in Azimio’s electoral reasons for the demonstrations because it is not Azimio or Kenya Kwanza that should be in office today. It is the JengaMkenya government that represents more than eight million voters whose candidate was not on the ballot and who saw no reason to participate in a flawed election. Our case is still in court to this day, unheard and undetermined by a judiciary that is insensitive to justice,” Kigame said.

He reiterated that they will peacefully join other Kenyans to protest against the high cost of living, massive looting of public resources, importation of GMOs, bad governance, exploitation and corruption, over taxation, misplaced priorities by the government, creation of unconstitutional offices, lack of ethnic inclusivity in the government appointments and insensitivity of our elected and appointed leaders, leading to hopelessness among millions of Kenyans.

“We request our supporters across the country and in the diaspora to join fellow Kenyans in exercising their right to peaceful protest which is guaranteed under Article 37 of Kenya’s constitution. Our right to protest as Kenyans is also guaranteed under regional and international human rights instruments ratified by Kenya, including Article 11 of the African Charter on Human Rights and Article 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR),” he concluded.
