Rachel Ruto, the First Lady of Kenya, along with Mr. Ademola Ajagbe, Regional Managing Director of The Nature Conservancy Africa will on Thursday launch the Eldoret-Iten Water Fund ‘One Million Trees’ campaign aimed at promoting conservation and sustainable practices within the region.
The Eldoret-Iten Water Fund, a groundbreaking initiative, aims to support farmers in five river sub-watersheds as they engage in conservation activities on their farms, including the cultivation of fruit and indigenous trees.
Additionally, the Water Fund will provide assistance to Water Resource Users Associations, Community Forest Associations, and forest adjacent communities, empowering them to fulfill their crucial role in watershed conservation.
Water funds bring together diverse water users from the public and private sectors to jointly invest in targeted, scientifically guided conservation interventions to protect the water resources they rely on.
