The government through the ministry of education has asserted that it will disburse the capitation for public primary schools, junior secondary schools and secondary schools by the end of next week.
In the last financial year, the government disbursed sh17 billion capitation funds to public schools to cater for free primary education and free day secondary education.
The Principal secretary for Basic Education Dr. Richard Belio Kipsang has said that all schools will receive their capitation by the end of next week to facilitate smooth running of the public institutions.
The Government’s delay in disbursement of capitation had negatively impacted the day to day running of the public schools.
“Possibly by the end of next week we shall be able to release the necessary capitation for our primary schools, junior secondary schools and secondary schools”, stated Dr. Kipsang.
Dr. Kipsang has added that the government is building the capacity for junior school teachers where they have already employed 35,000 teachers as well as distributed 18 billion books for grade 7 learners.
