Five Police officers were on Wednesday night killed by suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists at Elwak area in Mandera County.
Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki stated that the government has directed the security agencies to increase their operations to severely deal with Criminal activities.
“I ask security officers to ruthlessly deal with terrorists,bandits and other armed criminals.Last night in Elwak,the criminals killed five of our officers.There will be no mercy for criminals harming our officers,” Affirmed Kindiki on Thirdly in the course of his security visit in Turkana County.
The interior CS has announced further action t control the insecurity situation and avert any attacks in the Northern Kenya Region.
“To deal with highway bandits along the Kitale-Lodwar road,we will shortly gazette Turkana South Game reserve as a scene of crime and security operation zone. Only KWS officials and wild animals will be allowed in the reserve.We will carefully and thoroughly comb the game reserve and deal with all the criminals hiding there,”
In the meantime, the government has since delayed the arranged re-opening of the border points between Kenya and Somalia.
According to CS Kindiki the delay of the re-opening of the borders is necessary because of the increased terror attacks and cross-border crime that has flooded the region in the recent months.
