A 33-year old man has been charged in an Eldoret court with attempt to
rape his biological mother while armed with a club.
The accused, Naftali Kimeli is said to have committed the offence on
20th November this year at their home in Sinendet village of Soy
constituency, Uasin Gishu County.
Kimeli who looked composed in the dock, pleaded not guilty of the
offence when he appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Richard
Odenyo.
The court document stated that he threatened to terminate his mother’s
( name withheld ) life while armed with a club while accusing her of
tormenting him.
He is alleged to have stormed his mother’s house on the material in
the afternoon while armed with a club in his right hand and altered
words in Kiswahili ‘umenisumbua sana wewe, nitakuuwa leo”.
The accused, who was unrepresented, told the magistrate that the charge
leveled against him by his mother was false.
“Your honor, I categorically deny the charge that has been leveled
against me to the effect that I attempted to rape and thereafter kill
my mother while armed with a club,” noted Kimeli in his plea.
The Magistrate ordered that the matter be mentioned on 5th December
while the accused was taken to Eldoret GK remand prison.
The prosecution has lined up four witnesses among them the
complainants who are set to testify against the accused person in the
rape case.
